A little about me and my approach

Hi there, I’m Hunter McCain.

After earning my Master’s degree in Clinical/Medical Social Work from Florida State University, I gained experience working in both Intensive Outpatient community mental health and Psychiatric Behavioral Health Inpatient settings. Through these experiences, I developed a passion for working with individuals navigating more complex mental health challenges and helping people better understand themselves, their experiences, and what they want their lives to look like.

In my practice, I focus on building a trusting, empathetic, and patient-centered relationship where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I take a practical, problem-solving approach to therapy while also making space to explore the deeper experiences, patterns, and emotions that may be impacting you.

Therapy isn’t very helpful if it doesn’t feel relevant to you. I believe treatment should be tailored to the individual rather than forcing everyone into the same approach. I integrate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based on what feels most appropriate for each person, their goals, and where they are in their life.

My areas of experience include anxiety, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and Cluster B personality disorders. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who may have felt misunderstood, stuck, or like previous approaches to therapy haven't quite worked for them.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy hiking, going to the beach, eating my way through a new city, and spending time with my nieces and nephews.

My goal is to create a space where therapy feels genuine, collaborative, and useful—not just another appointment you have to get through.

Evidence-based therapy that actually makes sense

Therapy that’s personal, down-to-earth, and focused on real progress, with a little humor mixed in.

Rates: Sessions are approximately 50 minutes and are $175 per session. I believe therapy should be accessible, so I offer a sliding scale when possible and am happy to work with you to find a rate that feels realistic and comfortable.
